3 ноября в Курске «Луч-Энергия» встречался с местным «Авангардом».

Как отметил на послематчевой пресс-конференции Александр Игнатенко, тренер «Авангарда», крайне редко поднимающий тему судейства, на результат матча серьезно повлияли ошибки судейской бригады. Все спорные эпизоды произошли во втором тайме, а первый прошел в равной позиционной борьбе при минимальном количестве голевых моментов.
Первый реальный шанс забить упустили хозяева: Сергей Анохин на 12-й минуте несколько раз накрутил защитников гостей в штрафной, а затем сделал неожиданный пас на набегающего Альберта Борзенкова, который пробил низом, но чуть неточно. «Луч» спустя 5 минут ответил мощным выстрелом Федорова, но мяч пролетел в метре от штанги. Затем игра успокоилась, команды действовали по преимуществу в центре поля.
После перерыва игра соперников преобразилась, заиграли бодрее, и результат не заставил себя ждать. Уже на 48-й минуте судья назначил достаточно спорный пенальти в ворота курян, который четко реализовал Алексей Жданов, направив снаряд точно в правый от вратаря нижний угол.
На волне успеха спустя минуту дальневосточники удвоили преимущество. Бочков отдал разрезающий пас на Егорова, который сблизившись с вратарем, аккуратно послал мяч в дальний угол. 2:0. Проигрыш с крупным счетом при своих болельщиках явно не входил в планы тренерского штаба «Авангарда», который произвел серию замен: на поле появились Некрасов, Панин и Струков. Первая замена оправдала себя моментально. Спустя 5 минут после выхода на поле Некрасов после скидки Коровушкина точно пробил в ближний угол в ворот, и мяч от штанги залетел в сетку.
